Taking place next Saturday 3rd September, Comics Barcamp Belfast 2011 is an intriguing collaborative event of informal, comics-related seminars to be held at Belfast’s Blick Studios. Andrew Luke, from the project’s planning committee, describes the non-profit endeavour as “a unique community conference mixing business practice and creativity with comics media set squarely in the middle.”

With an emphasis on  interactivity, the Barcamp aims to allow participants to share experience and practice in a relaxed, non-hierarchical setting. Sessions include such diverse aspects of the creative/industry experience as distribution, web publishing, writer pitching and drawing from comics scripts, and the co-operative workshop philosophy of the event looks to have particular appeal to those involved in the small press and self-publishing.

If you’re interested in finding out more about taking part in this communal comics venture then further information on Comics Barcamp Belfast 2011 can be found on the official Wiki site here. Attendance is free and the Barcamp is sponsored by Blick Studios and DriveThruComics.com
