"Beware My Power..."

Halloween is a week gone, but the Great Pumpkin's spirit lives on in all of us. That being said, here's some Jack O'Green-Lantern action for you.

The set of geeky-awesome pumpkins were carved by Twitter user @Jilibabi and her husband, and are by far the most awesome things I've seen today. Too bad no one tried to top that this year.

Doctor, Doctor...

Carl Huber offered some suggestions for Halloween costumes a few days back in theWarehouse. Though I can't say it's the most dashing and daring iteration of the Doctor, it certainly is the most original. It's like a dark take on the Time Lord we all know and love!

Cracked's Worst (Re)Dressed

Speaking of "dark takes," Cracked has put together a list of the five most ridiculous gritty superhero reboots in history. Fortunately, Byrne's Man of Steel from the 80s in not on the list - that would be a bit too controversial amongst the geek communities. Their number one pick for this list should come as no surprise, though.

I am a huge fan of the Cracked lists. You may want to peruse their other pieces, in case this one doesn't tickle your funny bone. Enjoy!

What's New, Dark Horse?

News blog the Beat has a line-up of some excellent Dark Horse books coming out this month. Two of said books are from the "Dark Horse Archives" - which are books committed to reprinting the stories of characters that didn't get bought up by the Marvel/DC monster and have their continuities changed, rebooted, or mangled in any way. I can definitely appreciate the pulp-era covers of these titles.

On a side note, our very own Kris Bather reviewed the Major Bummer trade for this month's issue of the Frontiersman, which will be available on Graphic.ly. [/Plug]

B&N to Stop DC, PDQ

Finally, Newsy News covers the... news... that Barnes and Noble will no longer be carrying DC Comics. B&N has long had a deal that if they don't have the rights to sell the comics online, then they will not carry the books in the store. Comic fans everywhere heard this news and responded with a resounding, "... So?"

Barnes and Noble Pulls DC Comics From Shelves by NewsyVideos

It's an interesting story as far as business goes, but comic book fans usually shop at comic book stores, if not online. I'm sure that no one will miss B&N's copies of Brightest Day with the little security sticker stuck to a page so you can take it out without ripping the comic. If you can't tell, that happened to me.
