What? Two stews in a week? You have got to be kidding me! It's a miracle!
That's right, folks - new year, new rules! Well, old rules that are actually implemented this time around so long as I remember to do so - but why quibble? We have stuff to talk about!

Goon Unleashed, Reborn, and Remastered
Eric Powell released the cover for Goon #39 this past week. Let's just say it's... different.
Rich Johnston over at Bleeding Cool received the advance look at the cover this past week. Powell's satire of the past year or so of mainstream comics has yet to make him a media darling, but I hope my small contribution here will boost him to that Anderson Cooper interview he would love to have.

Grant Morrison's Jam Track

CBR reported that Grant Morrison took an opportunity to visit Southern California's NPR-affiliate, KCRW 89.9FM, for their guest DJ program.
While visiting, Morrison laid down some grooves that he has found inspirational during his tenure in comics. Tracks include:
The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths
The Heater - The Mutton Birds
Joe Public - The Rutles
Morrison also explained how he learned from these bands, and how they influenced his work. His full set list can be found here on the KCRW website.

The Mighty Avengers (Desk)
Okay, so you're rich - like, CRAZY rich - and you have all these superhero movie prop replicas. You've got Iron Man's helmet and arc reactor, Captain America's shield, Thor's hammer (Mjolnir), and probably the Black Widow's hanky that she used that one time. What do you do with all those items just laying around, collecting dust?
Simple - MAKE AN AWESOME DESK!
Grammy-winning recording artist Mark Hall did just that, with the help of the guys at Tom Spina Designs. However, like his Han-Solo-in-Carbonite desk before it, the Avengers desk will be put up for auction soon (with proceeds going to charity) - so he won't have much time to enjoy it.
Head on over to the Tom Spina website to check out some more pictures of the desk in all its glory!

Minimalist Heroes Strike Again!
There seems to be a craze these days when it comes to superhero posters. Minimalist is the new cool online. I guess people don't have time to appreciate depth in poster art?
In any case, these minimalist, superhero-inspired posters on ScreenRant are still pretty cool. I thought Quailman was pretty inspired.

Teens, Powers, and Movies
Chronicle is a new movie from Fox and Josh Trank, telling the story of three high school friends who find themselves with superhuman powers after a so-far undisclosed event.
From the looks of the trailer, the film seems to be a mix of Hancock and Cloverfield. Whether or not this works in context remains to be seen.
Chronicle hits theatres February 3rd.
