I can tell you out of my own experience that getting killed in a comic is just amazingly cool! It happened to me twice; in Marvel's "Heroes For Hire" (Billy Tucci) and in Top Cow's "The Darkness Level Three" (Eric Basaldua).
Now Comicbookresources and Top Cow started a contest in which one fan can be killed in a personalized style even!
Go here and be immortalized in "Berserker"!!

My face however was indeed used as one of the pirates in "Voyages of the She-Buccaneer" #2 :)
