Paul J Holden has posted an inside look on his first 2000 AD commission featuring Judge Dredd. It has an extensive footnote section with Paul going over all the specifics of comics storytelling. He points out the good and the bad in his first commission piece, delivering pointers for artists up-and-coming. If you don't know Paul from his drawings, here's the bio from his site:
PJ Holden is a Belfast based comic artist. His work has been published by 2000AD, Warhammer (Games Workshop), Image Comics, Fantagraphics and Eros comics. PJ has worked with many in the UK comics industry, including: John Wagner, Alan Grant, Gordon Rennie, Si Spurrier, Kieron Gillen, James Peaty, Leah Moore and John Reppion, Al Ewing and many others.
