I recently interviewed Scott Lobdell about his upcoming stint as the writer of Fathom Volume 4 for Aspen Comics. I didn’t want the interview (to be published in The Frontiersman #22, available on March 29) to focus on Fathom only, so I asked Lobdell a few questions about whether the rumors of him soon doing some DC work are true.
Lobdell declined to answer, instead conveying the message that DC would make the announcement at the proper time. Essentially, that’s the same thing as saying “Yes, I’m working for DC now!”.
Ok, so what book would Lobdell be writing? I can’t get my head around it that it would be something high high profile – not even buddy Bob Harras would hand him Superman or Batman out of the gate. A team book would make sense, since his runs on Uncanny X-Men and Generation X stand as some of Lobdell’s best work to date. But I can’t see him pushing Marc Guggenheim, James Robinson or Gail Simone out of the picture on JSA, Justice League of America, or Secret Six.
My money is on Teen Titans… currently written by (oh, the irony!), former Fathom scribe J.T. Krull.
