VIZ Media's manga iPad app is pretty solid. It's free and comes with a very extensive free sample section for people who like their appetites whetted. Though it sometimes takes a while to download the individual chapters, the clear images and multiple view options are worth the wait.
The interface itself is very similar to other Comixology-type apps, with familiar download pages and reader formats, but unlike American comic-book pages, the standard manga page is perfectly suited for the size of the iPad screen.
VIZ recently released two new fantasy adventure series, Merupuri and Natsume's Book of Friends, which go for about $5 a volume. Compared to the retail price of $8.99, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal, especially if you read a lot of manga.
So, if you are one of the proud few fans that pay for your manga, then this app is definitely worth a try. I was impressed with the selection of available volumes, and the list continues to grow. It's also a really great way to carry tons and tons of volumes around with you without a giant suitcase, and the pages will never yellow or stain!
