Me and my PS3

Almost exactly a year after its initial released, I finally own a PlayStation 3. I am now on my way to being an entertainment god.
I had been obsessing over this console since it was first announced. I even ask for it as a wedding gift from my wife last July. I knew it was only a matter of time before I owned it, but it’s so damn expensive! I had to wait until the time was right. A few months back me and the wife splurged and got a new TV. It’s a Sharp 42" LCD with 1080P resolution. Everything was falling into place, but I still couldn’t pull together the funds for the purchase. Then all of a sudden the government decided to give me $600 to spend however I like! The decision was easy.
My wife and I rushed out shortly after setting it up to buy our first Blu-Ray disc. We decided on I Am Legend, which was decent, but had the potential to look great in full high definition. We watched a few minutes but got bored because there was still so much to do with the PS3.
We quickly signed on to the PlayStation store and we were shocked to see how many game demos they have available for downloading. My PS3 spent all day Saturday downloading demos for us to try out.
This isn’t the first next gen console to make its appearance in our home. We already have a Wii, and we love it. Our new electronic addition to our family could never take the place of our Wii. When it comes to party games, the Wii is tough to beat. However, as much as we love our Wii, it can’t compete with the sheer power of the PS3. The graphics are just breathtaking and the Blu-Ray capabilities put it years ahead of its competitors.
There’s a lot for me to look forward to when it comes to me and my PS3. Next month There Will Be Blood and Cloverfield make their Blu-Ray debuts. Then in September we’ll have the highly anticipated release of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which promises to revolutionize video games forever!!! Okay, probably not, but I’ve convinced myself it will.
Then there is the matter of upgrading our DVD library to Blu-Ray, which will be a slow and costly operation indeed. We’re going to just focus on the essentials, most of which haven’t come out in Blu-Ray yet: the Star Wars films, The Matrix films, The Harry Potters, mostly sci-fi films with good special effects. Somehow I don’t think we’ll be missing out on much if we stick with the standard definition of films like You’ve Got Mail.
Sadly, I hardly know how to cope with my newfound entertainment godhood. I feel like a chump that found the Infinity Gauntlet at a garage sale. I’m sure at some point I will slowly begin to realize the full potential of the electronic beast in my living room. Now if I could only figure out how to turn it on.
