The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art today announced the nominees for this year's Harvey Awards.

The Harvey Awards, named after pioneering cartoonist Harvey Kurtzman (co-creator of MAD magazine), are one of the comics industry's oldest and most respected awards. The Harvey Awards recognize outstanding achievements in 20 categories, ranging from Best Letterer to Best New Talent to the Special Award for Excellence in Presentation. They are the only industry awards both nominated by and selected by the full body of comics creating professionals.

Voting for the Harvey Awards is open to anyone in the working professional comics community. Final ballots are available for download at the MoCCA website (www.moccany.org). Those without Internet access may request that paper ballots be sent to them via mail or fax by calling the museum (212-254-3511) or e-mailing the Harvey Awards Administrator (pjcjmc2@comcast.net). Ballots are due back to the Harvey Awards Administrator by mail or courier no later than by May 21, 2005, in order to be tallied.

As part of a unique, new, "Get-Out-The-Vote" campaign, the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is offering qualified Harvey Awards voters the opportunity to apply for a free one-year MoCCA membership when returning their Final Ballot. The free membership offer is included as an option on this year's Harvey Awards Final Ballot form and is available only to qualified Harvey Awards voters.

About the Harvey Awards Ceremony
This year's Harvey Awards will be given out in a ceremony at the historic Puck Building in New York City on Saturday evening, June 11, from 8:00-11:00pm during the Fourth Annual MoCCA Art Festival Weekend. This year's Harvey Awards ceremony will feature a keynote speech by cartoonist Jeff Smith (Bone) and awards presentations by several well-known industry figures.

This year's Harvey Awards Ceremony will be preceded by a special Harvey Awards Nominees & Sponsors Reception from 7:00-8:00pm (featuring open bar and hors d'ouevres for Nominees, Sponsors, Presenters, Supporters, VIPs and other Special Guests) and followed by a brief Harvey Awards Celebration (cash bar) lasting from the Ceremony's conclusion until midnight open to all attendees.

Complimentary table seating for the Harvey Award Ceremony as well as tickets for the pre-Awards Reception will be set aside for Sponsors, Presenters, and Nominees who reserve seating by May 21. Harvey Awards Nominees who wish to bring a guest have the option to purchase a (1) half-priced Table Seat for $17.50, allowing that guest to sit with them during the Awards Ceremony and accompany them to the pre-Awards Reception. Harvey Awards Nominees, Sponsors, Presenters and VIPs also have the option to purchase as many extra tickets for the Reception and/or for the Awards Reception as they wish at the same prices offered to the general public.

After May 21, remaining seats/tickets will be made available as follows:

$100 VIP PACKAGE includes admission to pre-Awards Reception, table seating for Harvey Awards Ceremony, one drink ticket for post-Awards Celebration, plus one-year annual MoCCA Membership.

$50 RECEPTION-ONLY. Reception-Only tickets will be first offered to MoCCA Members and 2005 MoCCA Art Festival Exhibitors. Any tickets still available as of June 1 will then be offered to the general public.

$35 TABLE SEATING for Harvey Awards Ceremony (includes one drink ticket for post-Awards Celebration).

$10 GENERAL (THEATRE-STYLE) SEATING for Harvey Awards Ceremony (includes one drink ticket for post-Awards Celebration).
