Abacus Comics announced today that it has put all of it’s thus-far published works up on WOWIO.COM for free download to the public. “Several titles are currently out of print, so this is the only way for a lot of folks to read the books” said publisher, Mike S. Miller.
When asked why Wowio, and not a pay-per-download service, Mike responded, “Wowio offers books for free to readers. Yet as a publisher, I still get paid a nice fee per download. More than I made per book publishing them in print, in fact! And how much easier is it to get people to download something for free than it is to get them to pay for a digital file?” The numbers seem to prove him right. Since putting his books up on Wowio April 1st, Abacus titles have generated over 6,000 downloads. That in under a month.
Abacus also announced an exclusive preview edition of the fan favorite title, Lullaby.
Featured in the exclusive are the pencils and some of the colors from the next installment in the beloved fantasy series by Hector Sevilla, Mike S. Miller and Ben Avery.
Of course, Mike doesn’t dispute that the FREE iPod SHUFFLE campaign is helping boost downloads either. “Yeah, I signed 10 friends up and got my own iPod Shuffle from Wowio, so I’m sure that is causing quite a boost in readership!”
Here is the complete list of Abacus titles available for download at WOWIO.COM:
