Komikwerks announced today that the first offerings from Actionopolis -- "The Forest King" and "What I did on my Interstellar, Hypergalactic Summer Vacation" -- are now available in the May Diamond Previews Catalog.
The books feature work by standout comics creators -- creators like Dan Mishkin (creator of "Blue Devil" and writer of various Marvel and DC titles), Tom Mandrake (artist on "Batman" and "The Spectre"), Adam Beechen (writer of "Justice League Unlimited" and "Robin") and Dan Hipp (creator of "The Amazing Joy Buzzards").
Preview copies of the beautiful, hardbound illustrated prose chapter books are already garnering praise from industry professions.
Writer Mark Waid calls "The Forest King", "Young Adult fiction at its best -- A wonderful and imaginative tale. Mishkin's exciting, magical story is only elevated by Tom Mandrake's breathtaking illustrations."
"'The Forest King' is Beautifully written and illustrated, Mishkin and Mandrake have come up with an instant classic," adds Marvel artist Andy Kubert.
Joe Kelly, comic scribe and co-creator of Cartoon Networks "Ben 10"
had high praise for "Hypergalactic Summer Vacation" as well. "Hits with the same wide-eyed enthusiasm and sense of adventure that the creators put into all of their work, be it for the page or the screen.
Big kids creating big kid adventure."
"Actionopolis' comic roots run deep," says publisher Shannon Denton.
"The new line of illustrated prose chapter books line is designed to help bring readers of action adventure books like 'Harry Potter' and 'Lemony Snicket' into comic shops."
Look for Actionopolis titles on pages 322 and 323 of the May Diamond Previews catalog, listed under Komikwerks.
