Active Images is pleased to announce that it has finalized an exclusive deal with Partners Publishing Group that will bring Active Images titles to the book trade and library markets around the U.S. The agreement will introduce Active Images's vast library of acclaimed titles to a whole new market and group of readers.
Partners will represent the Active Images library to national retail bookstore chains such as Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Books-A-Million; Independent booksellers like Tattered Cover and Joseph Beth; Internet sales outlets including, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and Powells.com; and wholesalers such as Partners Book Distributing, Ingram Books, Baker & Taylor, and BWI. Partners has the exclusive right to sell all of Active Images’s 14 backlist titles as well as its library of 5 Font Software Packs, plus any and all forthcoming frontlist titles.
The agreement with Partners does not impact Active Images’s sale of its books through Diamond Comic Distributors in reaching the direct market.
“We’ve been looking at expanding our presence into new markets for a while now,” said Richard Starkings, First Tiger and President of Active Images. “But we had two items to handle before that happened. First, I wanted to have a whole mess of titles to present to book trade distributors, to show we are and will be serious about publishing a whole library of books. Second, I wanted to find the right company to work with. Partners is brilliant, absolutely brilliant. They have a tremendous understanding of the market, and I immediately got the feeling that I’d be treated as if I was their only publisher. This relationship will greatly benefit both our companies.”
Sam Speigel, vice president of Partners, said, “From the moment I spoke with Rich and saw his company’s books, I knew I wanted to work with him. We know Active Images is a great fit in terms of size and potential, and we’re excited to be working with such a fine publisher.”
Active Images’s products include THE NIGHTMARIST by Duncan Rouleau and the best-selling HIP FLASK: UNNATURAL SELECTION, which has now sold over 26,000 copies.
All of Active Images’s books are available in finer comic book stores and on Amazon.com, and soon in bookstores and libraries around the country.
