Archaia Studios Press today announces a deal to bring David Petersen’s MOUSE GUARD: FALL 1152 to Doubleday Entertainment’s extensive fan base of science fiction and fantasy readers through the Altiverse segment of the Science Fiction Book Club. The hardcover edition of MOUSE GUARD: FALL 1152 collecting the first 6-issue MOUSE GUARD series, including 12 pages of bonus material, will be a featured Alternate in the Science Fiction Book Club's Summer cycle which begins mailing to members 5/25/07. The critically acclaimed book is in stores worldwide this week.
In MOUSE GUARD: FALL 1152 we are introduced to the fearless guards Saxon, Kenzie, and Lieam, dispatched to find a missing merchant mouse that never arrived at his destination. In this fanciful, dangerous and medieval world, where mice struggle to live safely and prosper among all of the world’s harsh conditions and predators, Saxon, Kenzie, and Lieam stumble onto much more than they bargained for…intrigue, betrayal, and a deadly, traitorous plot to overthrow the stronghold of Lockhaven.
“It’s amazing how much this little creation of mine keeps gaining steam,” said MOUSE GUARD creator David Petersen. “I certainly, like any creator, hopes to see their creation read by as many people as possible, but it starts off as little more than a hope. Everything’s happening so quickly—the hardcover coming out from ASP, the trade being published by Random House’s Villard Books, and now the Doubleday Book Club deal—it’s an exciting time in my life. Thanks to everyone for making this book such a dream come true for me.”
Doubleday Entertainment senior editor Jay Franco said, “I’ve been eyeing MOUSE GUARD since it first came out. It’s an amazing work. The storytelling, the art, everything about it just screamed that it should be a part of the Altiverse segment of the SFBC. We’re thrilled to offer it to our customers.”
Archaia Studios Press’s MOUSE GUARD: FALL 1152 (ISBN 978-1-932386-57-8; $24.95; a 192-page, full-color, hardcover graphic novel) is recommended for ages 10 and up.
