New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton’s comic book adaptation of Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter in Guilty Pleasures took the comic book world by storm upon its release in the fall of 2006, and the series is still selling strong: the first issue is already in its third printing, with the second and third issues moving into second printings.

And to celebrate the book’s success, studio Dabel Brothers Productions and publisher Marvel Comics have decided to issue a new, limited edition convention special just in time for the New York Comic Convention, which will take place on February 23-25th.

The new edition will feature an exclusive sketch cover drawn by series artist Brett Booth featuring Anita Blake in the midst of a voodoo ritual, as well as the entire first issue of the series. Excellent as both an entry point into the series for new fans and a wonderful collectible for those who are already Anita obsessed, this special edition is sure to be one of the “must-have” books of the convention.  And since the Dabel Brothers are only planning to have a limited number of this special edition on hand, fans are encouraged to stop by the Dabel Brothers sales booth (right next to the Marvel Booth) early to purchase a copy, as they are anticipated to sell out quickly.

Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter in Guilty Pleasures is a story set in an alternate world where vampires, werewolves, and other creatures of nightmare have been declared legal citizens of the United States. Anita Blake is an animator – someone who literally raises the dead for a living. But she’s also a licensed vampire hunter, often called in to investigate special cases that are too much for conventional police. And when a series of brutal murders of vampires begin to break out throughout St. Louis, Anita finds herself caught in a horrifying position as the vampire master of the city demands that she lend her assistance to bring the killer to justice.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled about the success of the Anita Blake comics, and we’re excited to hear what our fans have to say at the convention!” said Ernst Dabel, President of Dabel Brothers Productions.
