Laurell K. Hamilton’sAnita Blake: Vampire Hunter novels are constantly at the top of the bestseller charts, and with good reason: they fuse the gothic lore of vampires and werewolves with gritty detective stories and high octane, supernatural action. They’ve also made a wonderful transition into comics and graphic novels through the bestselling official adaptation of the first novel in the series, Guilty Pleasures, produced by Dabel Brothers Productions and published by Marvel Comics.
Anita Blake fans around the world are already eagerly awaiting two major entries in the comic book series slated for July. The first is the hardcover edition ofAnita Blake: Vampire Hunter in Guilty Pleasures vol. 1, a graphic novel collection of the first six issues of the comic book that also includes an all new, original 8-page story written by Laurell K. Hamilton. The second is a brand new prequel to theAnita Blake novels written by Laurell K. Hamilton specifically for comics calledAnita Blake: The First Death, which delves into Anita Blake’s beginnings as a zombie animator-turned-vampire hunter and introduces her first meeting with Edward, a popular character from the series who has a sadistic love for hunting vampires, and Jean-Claude, a vampire who owns a nightclub in the city of St. Louis.
But the Dabel Brothers are so excited about the upcomingAnita Blake: Vampire Hunter #7, slated to hit comic book stores everywhere in September that they’ve decided to release a special, limited, black and white edition of the book in July to celebrate the return of Laurell K. Hamilton’s popular character.
This limited edition will only be available through the Dabel Brothers Productions online store (http://www.dbprostore.com) and will feature the entire issue ofAnita Blake #7 (complete with text!) with uncolored artwork by series artist Brett Booth. The issue will also include an exclusive black and white cover of Anita Blake in the midst of raising the dead in a graveyard. (The cover was leaked last week for friends of the book’s official Myspace profile to discuss, and it received enthusiastic acclaim from the hundreds who took a peak!)
The limited edition will sell for $19.99 plus shipping and handling, and will be released on July 13th, 2007. Dabel Brothers Productions encourages readers to visit their web store immediately and sign up to be notified through the company’s official newsletter as to when the book will be available for sale since supplies will be limited and interest in this title is expected to be high.
"We released a black and white edition ofAnita Blake #1 last August, and it’s already being resold between collectors for between $30-50," explained Les Dabel, Vice President of Dabel Brothers Productions. "WithAnita Blake being such a hot title right now, we’re sure that demand for this book is going to be through the roof.
