Independent comic publisher Ape Entertainment is pleased to announce they will publish THE BLACK COAT: A CALL TO ARMS a former Speakeasy title. THE BLACK COAT  is created by Ben Lichius and Francesco Francavilla with writing assistance from Adam Cogan (Villains) and will be available in April 2006!

Ape Entertainment is working closely with Diamond Comic Distributors and creators to ensure that all outstanding orders for the title to date will be honored in a timely fashion.

“THE BLACK COAT was one of those projects that I was really looking forward to seeing on the stands.” said Ape Entertainment’s David Hedgecock. “I’m pleased to be a part of making sure that happens without much delay. We are honoring all orders of THE BLACK COAT made to this point and will be soliciting issue #4 for a July release.”

Along with U.T.F. (Undead Task Force), THE BLACK COAT is the second former Speakeasy title to be picked up by Ape Entertainment. When asked if there were plans for any other titles to join Ape Entertainment, Mr. Hedgecock was clear, “U.T.F. and THE BLACK COAT were the two titles we actively pursued and will probably be the last we can comfortably assist at this time.”

THE BLACK COAT is the story of Nathaniel Finch who wages an unseen war against mythical creatures, ancient curses, and enchanted science during the opening days of the American Revolution. THE BLACK COAT: A CALL TO ARMS is a four issue mini-series. Issue #1 is currently scheduled for an April 2006 release, with writers Ben Lichius & Adam Cogan (Villains) and artist Francesco Francavilla.
