Mark Smylie, creator of the Origins Award-nominated roleplaying game, ARTESIA: ADVENTURES IN THE KNOWN WORLD, is pleased to announce the hiring of writer Joe Martin to become editor of a line of books to support the acclaimed Artesia RPG.
Joe Martin comes to ASP with a host of credentials. His work has appeared in numerous comic book and game titles, most notably co-developing and co-writing the Warmachine line from Privateer Press. Joe also served as Editor-in-Chief while at Privateer, earning an ENnie Award for Best Editor in 2004, and his fiction and RPG work appeared in virtually every Privateer Press release from 2002 to 2005. Joe’s writing has also been featured in Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated Magazine, Legends of Camelot: Excalibur (from Caliber Comics), Gaming Frontiers (a roleplaying game magazine), and such non-industry publications as CBR (Classic Bike Rider) and VMX (Vintage Motor Cross).
Smylie said, “With the growth in popularity of the game and with more and more players finding their way to ARTESIA: ADVENTURES IN THE KNOWN WORLD, it’s time to add a line of supporting books. Having struggled with the Herculean task of writing, illustrating and laying out the entire 352-page hardcover core rulebook, I knew it was time to get help. Joe’s the perfect guy for the job. I’ve known him for a long time and he’s going to do a tremendous job enlivening a game with a host of new and supporting releases.”
“I’ve been a fan of Mark’s work on ARTESIA ever since the first series came out,” said Martin. “Once I saw the roleplaying game, I felt like I had to work on it. Mark’s world is so rich, so fully realized, yet with so many different paths to explore. I’m honored and excited that I’ve been given this chance to explore those paths and to add to the world of ARTESIA: ADVENTURES IN THE KNOWN WORLD.”
Future releases for ARTESIA: ADVENTURES IN THE KNOWN WORLD are planned for an early 2007 release.
ARTESIA: ADVENTURES IN THE KNOWN WORLD (ISBN: 1-932386-10-6, $39.95, 352 pages, full-color, 8.5” x 11”), using a modified and easy-to-use Fuzion-based roleplaying system as well as an adaptation of R. Talsorian Games’ LifePath character-generation system, takes players into the strife-riven realms of the Known World, where war and magic, fantasy and mysticism take center stage as religions, warlords and empires vie for power.
More on the game can be found at http://www.theknownworld.com/main.html and it is available at finer game and comic book shops everywhere.
