Mike Malve, owner of Atomic Comics in Arizona, will make an upcoming cameo appearance in the online comic, Comic Book Mafia starting December 13, 2010 on The Webcomic Factory.

“We’re psyched to have Mike appearing,” says CBM co-creator, Tony DiGerolamo.  “There’s a fine line between fans, publishers and retailers in the comic book business, so it’s only natural that some of the retailers appear in the comic too.”

Comic Book Mafia features the adventures of Tony D and CB (Creators DiGerolamo and Christian Beranek) as shady, comic book moguls that exist in a world where comic book publishers are like Mafia dons. Beranek is portrayed as a hedonistic, money-hungry, capo-type character, while DiGerolamo is portrayed as an over-the-top, ruthless enforcer. After taking down a rival comic book Manga kingpin known as“The General”, the duo stop in Malve’s store.

"In the comic Mike’s store is like one of our safe houses,” says Beranek. “Like movie Mafia guys, there’s also a streak of Robin Hood in them because they help their friends. In reality, Atomic Comics is helpful to fans and creators alike. Mike and crew always put together great events such as this past weekend's Bendispalooza."
