Broken Frontier

July is a month of comebacks for two of the most famous (and in the case of one, infamous) Archie Comics females!    

First up is Katy Keene.  Her reintroduction in the 2005 Free Comic Book Day giveaway comic and subsequent appearances in the 2006 Free Comic Book Day issue and BETTY & VERONICA SPECTACULAR #72 just weren’t enough to satisfy our readers appetites for comics’ favorite fashion model!  Well, wait no longer.  Rather, pick up ARCHIE & FRIENDS #102 and see just how Katy is fairing with her newfound fame!  In “Paparazzi Problem,” Katy spirits off to a secluded seaside town, hoping to relax and avoid the press… but even there, tabloid shutterbugs lurk!  In an effort to go unrecognized, she changes from one outfit to the next, but instead of providing cover it turns into a fashion show on the go!  The fashionable fun is brought to you by writer Andrew Pepoy with stylish art from John Workman.

Not to be outdone, one of the greatest minds in the history of the Archie universe is returning this month, too – Jughead’s nemesis, Trula Twyst!  Trula is truly hard to understand… does she bedevil Jughead because of all he stands for, or is she really secretly taken by the crowned one?  Perhaps the answer to that age old question lies in JUGHEAD #175.  In the story, “We Meet Again,” it’s a true “Twyst” of fate when Trula Twyst returns!  Can she and Jughead finally put aside their differences, or will this latest encounter become an outsmarting contest, too?  It’s the kind of hilarity fans have come to expect from writer Craig Boldman, with wonderfully wacky artwork from Rex Lindsey.
