Original announcement:
To help the victims in New Orleans and other cities in the state of Louisiana that were hit by Hurricane Katrina this week, Broken Frontier is setting up a series of charity auctions of which all proceeds will go directly to the American Red Cross. All auctions will be held on eBay next week, starting on Friday, September 9.
Creators & Publishers
If you're a comic book creator or publisher who wants to help those in need, you can donate signed comics, original artwork (pages, covers, sketches, paintings, ...), signed scripts, etc.
Retailers & Fans
That's right! Retailers and fans can also provide a helping hand! Join BF's Katrina relieve effort by donating trade paperbacks, sets of comics or single issues from your retail stores or private collections.
How does this work?
Like any other auction BF has held in the past, everyone who agrees to participate keeps their donations in their possession until after the auctions have ended. Once payment has been received, we will provide the donator with the shipping address of the winning bidder, after which the item(s) can be sent out. Everyone can send scans of their donations (along with a suggested opening bid price, and if necessary, a reserve price) directly to Frederik Hautain at frederik@brokenfrontier.com. You are also welcome to post the info directly in the Hurricane Katrina Charity thread on the BF message boards. In the first post of that thread, an overview of all donations, together with links to the respective eBay auctions, will be compiled.
Payment
Winning bidders have to send all funds (in USD) to BF's Paypal account linked to Frederik Hautain's eBay user name. Once the auctions are over, Frederik will donate the total amount generated to the American Red Cross. A copy of the invoice will be posted in the Hurricane Katrina Charity thread on the BF message boards to ensure every participant involved that 100% of the funds raised are sent to the American Red Cross.
The victims of Hurricane Katrina need our help! Participate now!
Fans, retailers, creators or publishers that would like to help out but do not want to participate in any of the charity auctions are strongly urged to consider making a secure online donation to benefit the American Red Cross at http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html or by calling 1-800-HELP NOW. Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may also be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P. O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
