Fans can rest easy knowing that all four issues, including the sold-out first issue of the critically acclaimed mini series The Black Coat: A Call to Arms, are being collected into a new trade paperback. The collections will be available in stores during early December from publisher Ape Entertainment.
“We knew we wanted to put out a trade after the first series,” says Black Coat Co-creator and Editor Ben Lichius “but when issue one sold out, we realized there were a lot of readers out there that felt like they missed the boat. We’re hoping this will be a chance for anyone that’s been wondering about the book to jump on board and see what all the fuss is about.”
The Black Coat is the story of a masked super spy and his network of agents as they battle the British and dark forces of the occult in New York City right before the Revolutionary War. Filled to the brim with explosive action and pulp style adventure, Chris McCroskey of Komikazee.com says “The Black Coat is by far one of the best period comics I have ever read!”
Mike Avon Oeming (Powers artist, Marvel writer) also adds "Black Coat has both feet firmly planted in traditional swashbuckling adventure and original vision- a great looking book!"
The Black Coat is written by Ben Lichius and Adam Cogan (Villains) and illustrated by breakout talent Francesco Francavilla, of whom Nextwave artist Stuart Immonen says "Francavilla's exquisite brushwork rivals that of Al Williamson or Alex Raymond... the level of detail and craft perfectly suits the rich atmosphere of the Black Coat."
Fans of the series will also find the trade packed with unique content not available anywhere else including behind-the-scenes material, concept art, pinups and more.
Preorders can be placed now through the October issue of Previews (Item# OCT063123, on page 226). The book will be 104 pages with a retail price of $12.95 and feature cover art by Francesco Francavilla and Euan Mactavish.
