Broken Frontier

Aspen Comics and acclaimed penciler Talent Caldwell (Gen13, Fathom: Dawn of War) have teamed up for a special alternate cover to issue one of Aspen’s newest mini-series Soulfire: Chaos Reign.

The 50/50 alternate cover features the artwork of Caldwell with colors by Peter Steigerwald. Soulfire: Chaos Reign traces the savage and deadly origins of magic in the Soulfire universe, focusing on one clan’s struggles to merely co-exist with their primordial surroundings. Chaos Reign is written by veteran Aspen writer J.T. Krul (Soulfire, Fathom) and features art by Marcus To (Cannon Hawke), Don Ho (Cannon Hawke), and David Moran (DC Comics’ Supergirl). Series penciler To is particularly excited to have Caldwell onboard for the project:

“Talent [Caldwell] is a really dynamic and exciting artist, and his cover really captured the heart and soul of the series in one lasting image. That’s not an easy thing to do for guest cover-artist work. He did a phenomenal job!”

Along with Caldwell’s alternate cover to Soulfire: Chaos Reign #1, Aspen will be releasing the special regular cover version of #1 by To and Peter Steigerwald (Soulfire). In addition to the 50/50 To/Caldwell covers, Aspen will be celebrating the launch of the series by debuting an exclusive Wizard World Chicago 2006 cover to Soulfire: Chaos Reign #1 by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald limited to only 2500 copies, available at the Aspen Comics booth #221. Soulfire: Chaos Reign #1 will be in stores August 9th.
