Fresh from her recent appearances in Flare Adventures, classic adventures of the savage original Tigress are now being presented for the first time in color in the pages of Heroic Publishing's CHAMPIONS comic book.

It begins in Champions #46, now on sale, with the classic Tigress adventure, "Back from the Dead," by writer Dennis Mallonee with artists Paul Abrams and Craig Stormon.
This Tigress adventure was originally published in black-and-white in the mid-1990s, in the pages of the third issue of Heroic's six-issues Tigress series. Tigress adventures from Tigress #4-6 are currently scheduled to appear in color in Champions #51, 52, and 54. Her adventures from issues #1 and #2 appeared recently in Flare Adventures #23-25.

As long-time fans of the Heroic Publishing titles will recall, the original Tigress series ended at the very beginning of a storyline in which the Tigress had teamed up with Federal agents Skylark Smith and Felicity Bliss on a mission to destroy the criminal paramility drug-running cartel known as VENOM. According to publisher/writer Dennis Mallonee, that untold story will at last be told beginning in late summer of 2001, either serialized starting in Champions #55 or as part of a relaunch of the Tigress comic book with an all-new issue #7.

These color reprints of the adventures of the original savage Tigress also serve as a placeholder of sorts for the newer, contemporary version of the character. Adventures of Kassidy Farrell, the all-new Tigress, have appeared in Flare, League of Champions, and several issues of Champions, beginning with issue #36, with artwork by Daerick Gross and the late, great Dick Giordano. With the passing of Dick Giordano, and with Daerick Gross busy working on the relaunch of his Latina martial arts character, Murcielaga She-Bat, the Kassidy Farrell Tigress was left without an artist. Until such time as a new Tigress artist is found, tales of the original Tigress serve to keep the name visible.

One additional previously published adventure of the original Tigress will appear in color in Liberty Comics #5, in January 2011. This adventure, set in the years before World War II, features the Tigress in her role as the lord of crime in Cairo, and pits her against the malevolence of the demonic sorceress, Dark Malice.

Assuming that a new artist is found, plans call for new adventures of the Kassidy Farrell version of the Tigress to begin in Tigress #7, with the conclusion of the VENOM storyline serialized as a back-up feature. In the meantime, the Kassidy Farrell Tigress will be featured prominently as a member of the League of Champions when that title resumes regular publication in early 2011.
