Harvard University’s Outreach Center at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies is participating in Free Comic Book Day by launching a dynamic comic anthology featuring artists from the Middle East region.

The Book Project The anthology, Muqtatafaht, will be composed of contributions by 13 artists from the Arab world and will be published by the Outreach Center in May 2012 through Caption Box Imprint. It will showcase the diversity of styles and themes represented by contributing artists as they explore a range of topics through the graphic art medium.

The book will be released as part of Free Comic Book Day and online and through the Outreach Center website.

Contributors Graphic novels and comics in Arabic from the Arab world are a growing genre of literature.

This collection features the contributions of some of the best artists working today in the comics and graphic novels medium.
The anthology will be edited by Paul Beran, Anna Mudd and A. David Lewis. Free Comic Book Day Free Comic Book Day is an annual event when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops with the goal of introducing new and returning readers to this medium.
