Darwyn Cooke, the Eisner Award winning writer/artist of DC: THE NEW FRONTIER, has signed a2-year exclusive agreement with DC Comics. Cooke is illustrating the upcoming BATMAN/THE SPIRIT Special, written by Jeph Loeb, and is writing and illustrating DC’s new monthly series starring THE SPIRIT.
“DC is a natural fit for me,” says Cooke. “They’re the books I loved as a kid, and they’re the company that has had a heck of a lot of faith in my work. When DC approached me about The Spirit, I realized what an enormous commitment it would be, and how much faith DC was placing in me. I consider the Spirit to be the challenge of my career, and I promise the readers I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got. I wanted to go exclusive to show the degree to which I was commited to this project.”
“Darwyn is incredibly versatile and talented, and we’re very excited to have him working with us,” says Dan DiDio, VP — Executive Editor, DCU. “He’s every bit as comfortable with small, personal stories like CATWOMAN or the sweeping grandeur of NEW FRONTIER. Having Darwyn on board is great not just for the DCU but for DC Comics as a whole.”
Cooke’s previous work for DC Comics may be found in the titles below, all available for reorder:
• BATMAN: EGO (STAR11672)
