Dynamite Entertainment announced today that an exclusive Fathom prelude story - produced by Dynamite in conjunction with Fathom Creator Michael Turner and Aspen Studios - will be in stores this May. The item is currently available for PRE-ORDER in the new issue of Diamond Previews.
The story is by Michael Turner and J.T. Krul with script by Aspen scribe J.T. Krul AND features the interior art of Ale Garza - (who is now working exclusively on Batgirl for DC Comics - check it out!). Dynamite is bringing a host of talent to the covers, offering 4 variants super star artists - each shipping in equal ration - by such talents as Michael Turner, Peter Steigerwald, Jae Lee and Ale Garza. The Fathom Prelude has a $2.99 cover price.
"The Fathom Prelude illuminates a part of Aspen's life that has been untouched so far in the title," explains writer J.T.. Krul. "There is a big gap in issue one between her arrival in San Diego on the cruise ship and her discovery of the Blue in the ocean. In the Prelude, Aspen's natural attraction to the water has translated into a position on the U.S. Olympic swim team. As she embarks on a journey to Korea for the '88 Games, she is sure it will be a life-changing event. And, she is right, but not in the way that she imagined. "
"We are extremely pleased at how this is all coming together," continued Dynamite Spokeperson J. Allen. "Mike, Peter, Frank and the Aspen crew have been fantastic to work with and the fans are gonna be knocked right out when they see the work Garza and Krul have put into this special one-shot."
For the Retail Community, D.E. has created two "incentive" editions based on ordering plateaus: the first is a 1-in-25 Ale Garza "sketch variant and the second will be a 1-in-50 Michael Turner "Sketch" variant. Both available to qualifying retailers at no extra cost. Please consult with your Diamond Customer Service Representative for more details.
