DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT today released art and information concerning the exclusive variant cover edition of Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness #3 -- featuring a special Arthur Suydam "zombified" tribute to the historic comic graphic novel - Marvel Graphic Novel #1: The Death of Captain Marvel (1982) by Jim Starlin. Only 3,000 pieces of this variant edition of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #3 have been produced!
The Dynamite Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness #3 variant edition is extremely rare and was made available by Dynamite in conjunction with Marvel. The edition is only available through www.dynamiteentertainment.com, though any interested retailers should contact Dynamite concerning wholesale orders. In addition, the variant edition will also be available as part of Dynamite's Summer convention tour beginning through select retailers at the Wizard World Philadelphia's Comic Con this coming this June (March 15th - 17th).
Dynamite stated, "For issue #3, Arthur Suydam has put his ‘zombified' twist on one of the most dramatic Marvel stories of all time ‘The Death of Captain Marvel' to make this variant edition something to remember for Marvel fans of all ages. The Thing, Spider-Man, Captain America and Wolverine-the Marvel Zombies are all there, paying tribute to the fallen Captain Mar-Vell as he rests in Death's cold embrace (actually not a bad place considering they are zombies). But look out, because as usual a chainsaw wielding Ash is hiding in the background!!! We worked with our good friends at Marvel to create this variant edition as a way to help promote the series. We want to thank all the fans of the Marvel Zombies and AOD fans that have been lighting up the message boards in anticipation for the series."
Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness is a Five-Issue Limited Series that will serve as a direct prequel to last year's smash Marvel Zombies series which featured "dynamite" covers by Arthur Suydam, crisp scripts by Robert Kirkman and fantastic art by Sean Philips and colorist June Chung! Marvel Zombies followed the events in Mark Millar's and Greg Land's Ultimate Fantastic Four #24. With the success retailers have had with Marvel Zombies (both the series, the Hard Cover collection going to multiple printings and the Ultimate FF appearances), and the sell out of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #1 and Army of Darkness #13 (where Ash made his first appearance on to Earth-2149), retailers are asked to double check their orders for #4 and #5 to ensure having enough when the book is in stores.
