Dynamite Entertainment today released a preview of Army of Darkness #13’s "dynamite" pages plus the surprise ending which leads-in to the upcoming Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness Five Issue Limited Series- the crossover event of ’07!!! Scheduled to be in stores today (some stores are delayed by a week due to the snow storms that hit) - Army of Darkness #13 is the final chapter of the regular AOD series and features covers by Tom Nguyen, Kevin Sharpe, Nick Bradshaw and a surprise 4th cover by Marvel Zombies artist Sean Phillips!
Until recently, Dynamite would only confirm that issue #13 would be the end of the current series with the "death of Ash" (at least in his universe), but not the end of Ash, cryptically saying: “Ash has faced plenty of deadites in his time, but he’s about to face another form of the undead in his next comic series, true believers.” Although, the particulars of Ash’s demise and the plot to Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness Limited Series remain under wraps, Dynamite has released a preview of the surprise ending to AOD #13, giving fans a sneak peek at Ash’s welcoming committee to the Marvel Universe- and this special page is drawn in Marvel Zombie tradition by Sean Phillips with colorist June Chung! And leads in to the Marvel Zombies Vs. The Army of Darkness ("covered" by Arthur Suydam, John Layman, Faniano Neves and June Chung!)
Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness will act as a direct prequel - fitting seamlessly into the Marvel Zombies mythos - to last year’s smash Marvel Zombies series which featured “dynamite” covers by Arthur Suydam, crisp scripts by Robert Kirkman and fantastic art by Sean Philips and colorist June Chung!
Marvel Zombies followed the events in Mark Millar and Greg Land’s Ultimate Fantastic Four #24. The final pages of DYNAMITE’S Army of Darkness #13 by writer James Kuhoric, teases at the upcoming event. So the groundwork has been laid out through the Ultimate Universe, the Marvel Universe, and now Dynamite's Army of Darkness Universe!
Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness is scheduled for a March release, and will take the place of the regular AOD series, while the crossover mini-series takes place (hey, Ash is in Marvel Zombie world, what would we do the series about? Evil Ash?... Hey, wait a minute, we’ll get back to you on that). Issue #13 of Army of Darkness is due in stores on December 27th (and more to come on some surprises there), but hey, we’re talking about Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness here, so check out the cover by sir Arthur Suydam – it ROCKS!
