USA Today unveiled the first look at the Fantasticar, the vehicle that will transport Marvel’s first family to and from whichever adventure and planet they’ll encounter in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the sequel to the 2005-release Fantastic Four.
The Fantasticar was designed by conceptual artist Tim Flattery, who also designed the Batmobile as seen in 1995’s Batman Forever. Because director Tim Story rejected his early designs as too aggressive, Flattery opted for a design that looked friendly and sleek, and eventually found himself basing the vehicle on manta rays and stingrays.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer hits theatres on June 15, 2007 and sees the return of the original movie’s ensemble cast—Michael Chiklis (The Thing), Ioan Gruffudd (Mr. Fantastic), Chris Evans (Human Torch), Jessica Alba (Invisible Woman), and Julian McMahon (Dr. Doom)—alongside appearances of new threats Galactus and Silver Surfer.
