DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT released images and information today showcasing Raise the Dead #3, the third issue of the company's all terrifying new zombie series. Raise the Dead is written by Leah Moore and John Reppion, with art by Dynamite's latest up and coming artistic sensation Hugo Petrus! Scheduled for a May release, Raise The Dead #3 will be available with covers by series cover artists Arthur Suydam and Sean Phillips -- both of Marvel Zombie fame!
Stated Dynamite, "With this next issue of Raise the Dead the cast is falling quickly into the brain-craving ranks of the undead, and a big revelation about the outbreak is on the horizon- but will it end the undead apocalypse or just confirm that the world is doomed? Raise the Dead is page after page of hardcore ‘aim-for-the-head-and-they'll-stay-dead' zombie fiction. Co-writers Leah Moore and John Reppion have designed a tale of survival in a world where no one is safe, and artist Hugo Petrus is making sure that Raise the Dead is the best looking zombie title on the stands."
Raise the Dead co-writer John Reppion described the scare tactics utilized in his "Dynamite" zombie tale, "A lot of modern horror films use the ‘boom' scare tactic where they add a big loud sound onto the soundtrack when they want the audience to jump. Obviously, we can't do that in comics (although, I really wish there was a way to do so sometimes) but there are lots of tricks you can borrow from films. Every time the reader turns a page, there's an opportunity for a shock or a reveal. Being able to show things that the characters have yet to notice works equally as well on paper as celluloid. One advantage you have over films, and even novels, with comics is that it's very easy for the reader to backtrack and check things out that they might have overlooked previously."
