According to the Hollywood Reporter, Maggie Gyllenhaal is about to join the cast of The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan’s sequel to Batman Begins.
The actress, who most recently starred in Stranger Than Fiction and World Trade Center, is set to replace Katie Holmes as D.A. Rachel Dawes, the love interest of Batman/Bruce Wayne.
Gyllenhaal joins a star-studded cast, including Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox), Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon), Heath Ledger (the Joker), and Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent/Two-Face).
