Giving Hawaii’s anime fans extra reason to celebrate the New Year, Anime Network has teamed with Oceanic Time Warner Cable to launch its hot programming lineup as part of Oceanic’s Video On Demand (VOD) package. Viewers can now tune into Channel 332 to access such fan-favorites as “Chobits,” “Robotech,” and “Kaleidostar,” among many other hit animated shows and specials.
The first channel in North America wholly dedicated to the anime genre, Anime Network has steadily expanded its presence, now reaching devoted audiences in some 55 cities nationwide. This latest deal is the Network’s answer to requests from fans in the Hawaiian islands-a hotbed for anime.
“Since our initial launch in 2003, we have been flooded with email, letters and calls from Hawaii residents demanding their anime,” said Kevin Corcoran, President of Anime Network. “We are delighted to have joined forces with Oceanic Time Warner Cable to give these fans what they want, while creating a completely new audience of avid viewers.”
With a dedicated and loyal fan base, Japanese style animation, or anime, is among the hottest genres in the world today. This is the entertainment force that is fueling directors like Quentin Tarantino and bands like Linkin Park, whose recent projects have been steeped in anime. Anime Network is dedicated to providing the most cutting-edge anime available, from the newest releases to the classics of the genre.
