Here comes GIANT! Last October, in the first new issue of FLARE, fans of Heroic Publishing's new line of comic books titles were asked which classic Heroic character they'd most like to see featured in a new series of full-color adventures. The answer came back loud and clear. Fans wanted to see Heroic Publishing's towering hero, GIANT!
Their wish is granted. Come June 29, in the pages of the first new issue of TALES OF THE CHAMPIONS, it's the return of the first and greatest Champion of them all. GIANT is back, in all-new adventures, by FLARE writer Wilson Hill, and legendary CHAMPIONS artist Chris Marrinan.
Twenty years after his grandfather's death, ten years after the tragic passing of his father, thirteen-year-old William Jensen is just about ready to accept his birthright. Even over his mom's strenuous objections, he's just about ready to tap into the magic of the mystic harness of Zeus, and call upon the awesome, godlike power that only he can wield. And when ICESTAR gets himself into trouble at the hands of the sinister Doctor Pomegranate, it really is up to GIANT to save the day!
GIANT tells the story of a young, third-generation hero struggling to come to terms with a powerful legacy left to him by a grandfather and a father who were themselves the greatest heroes of their day. As the new GIANT, William Jensen will not only have to deal with the usual assorted collection of costumed villains--villains like Doctor Pomegranate, the abominable Ogre, and Jumping Jack--he'll also have to deal with the trials and tribulations every teenaged boys through. And he'll especially have to deal with his disapproving mother, who's already lost her husband and her father to that damnable harness, and isn't about to risk losing her son, too.
A preview of the first issue of TALES OF THE CHAMPIONS can be found on the Heroic Publishing website, at www.heroicpub.com/champions/ch01.php. Log in as "guest" with the password "guest".
And don't forget to visit the Heroic Publishing booth at San Diego's Comic-Con International the weekend of July 13-17. Heroic Publishing's creative personnel will welcome interviews and discussions with fans, the fan press, and professional media alike. Please stop by to say hello.
