Heske Horror, creator of the critically acclaimed Cold Blooded Chillers indie horror series and award-winning Bone Chiller anthology, has released its anticipated apocalyptic anthology, 2012: Final Prayer.
What will go down on 12/21/12?
Extinction … Ecstasy … Or another Y2K non-event? Comic Creators from around the world share their creative interpretations!
Truly a global event, 2012: Final Prayer features graphic tales from indie comic creators from the US, UK, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Scotland and South Africa. “Several of the writer and artist creators will be familiar to indie comic fans – but a few are talented newcomers who, quite possibly, could become the Next Generation of indie sci fi and horror superstars,” says R.M. Heske who published the book and contributed three graphic tales. “In essence, this book is their ‘rookie card’ – one you will want to hang on to!”
The 154-page black & white trade paperback, with cover art by Preston Asevedo, includes 15 graphic tales about “what happens on 12/21/12 at 11:11 GST?” Also featured is a “Post-Apocalypse” section with a wonderfully written and drawn tale (Harkinton by Duncan Eagleson) and three short stories by emerging horror writers. Jim Harold, host of the popular “Paranormal Podcast” pens the Foreward, and authors Marshall Masters (Planet X Forecast and 2012 Survival Guide) and Marie D. Jones (2013: The End of Days or a New Beginning?) contribute brief topical essays.
Here are some of the early reviews:
“A dandy concept for graphic fiction that remains true to James Warren’s independent spirit, with illustrated stories a bit edgier than the mainstream. I’d much rather re-read this book a third time than watch Roland Emmerich’s movie even once.”
- Rod Lott, Bookgasm.com
“This is a great collection of original stories by some amazing writers and artists … You know I say give me some monsters and I will tell you how funny they are, but if you make me think about the world ending, now you got me scared!”
– Decapitated Dan, From the Tomb magazine
The book also features a UK variant cover by British artist Paul Cartwright who has drawn covers for Wall of Angels and Insomnia Publications’ wickedly successful OGN Cancertown. Jay Katz, owner of InvestComics.com, sees this anthology as a sleeper investment due to the combination of the hot-button subject matter, the experienced and newbie comic creators from around the world, and the screaming Variant cover by Cartwright.
Comic fans can pick up a copy at Amazon (available 11/17) or a digital download at DriveThruComics.com. For more information, or to contact the publisher, visit Heske Horror at www.coldbloodedchillers.com.
