For the second consecutive year, IDW Publishing has been awarded the Diamond Gem Award for Comic Publisher of the Year in the “Under 5% Market Share” category for the year 2004. IDW Publishing was awarded in the same category for the year 2003.
Gem Award nominees were selected by a panel of Diamond product specialists on the basis of their overall impact on the industry, while comics and other related merchandise were chosen on the merits of their quality, creativity, and sales performance in 2004. Retailers were able to cast their votes for the nominated parties and products with ballots contained with their various February Previews orders. This is the fifteenth year that Diamond has awarded the Gem Awards.
"I'm really proud of these awards. We try to be a responsible partner with the comic book retail community and I believe these awards indicate that we're doing a good job. We've got a lot of great projects coming out this year and everyone at IDW will be working hard to make sure we're in the running for the award next year," said IDW's publisher, Ted Adams.
