Archaia Studios Press (ASP) and creators Rob Vollmar and mpMann are proud to announce the forthcoming release of Inanna's Tears, a speculative proto-historical tragedy set in ancient Sumer. Following a successful serialized run on Modern Tales , the 5-issue series transitions to a bi-monthly in August. Each issue will feature 25 full-color pages of story and retail for $3.95.
The full archive of the 126-page graphic novel will remain available online for the month of June to give retailers and readers alike a sneak peek at the compelling story of Sumer before the rise of the kingship, when the prosperous city of Birith was known throughout the land for its devotion to the goddess Inanna.
While making its run on Modern Tales, which began Jan 1, 2007 and maintained a consistent, weekly update schedule, Inanna's Tears (Diamond Order Code: JUN073244) has been called "[A] tautly written, beautifully drawn period piece" by Brett Warnock (Top Shelf).
Co-creator Rob Vollmar said, "It was really important to us that every issue of this series should come out on time as scheduled. One way to guarantee this was to do the entire thing in advance, in the public eye, so that there would be no doubt as to our ability to deliver a quality product on time and every time. Marv and I are extremely excited to see our labor of love in print from ASP."
In Inanna's Tears , after a thousand years of plenty, the city of Birith is in danger of being overrun by the nomadic refugees that swell in number outside of its walls. Even as the En makes plans to preside over his final ritual to Inanna and name a successor, powerful interests outside of the city begin to question the wisdom of continuing to submit to the Temple’s authority. When the role of consort is passed unexpectedly to a woman named Entika, she must overcome not only the prejudices of her own people but a cunning enemy
Inanna's Tears is recommended for Mature Readers and will be available in all fine comic book shops.
