Komikwerks Looks at Black Roots

Komikwerks LLC, a leader in online comics publishing, is celebrating national Black History Month by featuring the work Tayo Fatunla, whose daily strip OUR ROOTS chronicles many prominent black historical figures, events, and customs. Topics and people featured are Malcom X, tribal marks, black people in Nazi Germany, and many other times, people, and places through history, as related to the development of current black culture.
Tayo Fatunla is an illustrator and cartoonist based in England, and he has held exhibitions and workshops in the U.K., France, the U.S., Egypt, Finland, Nigeria, Italy and has published his cartoons internationally and produced cartoons and illustrations for books, newspapers, magazines, and Web Sites. He graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in New Jersey.

Komikwerks will also feature a series of interviews with black creators from animation and comics, discussing their views and take on the portrayal of black characters in comics, historically and today. The first interview with Damion Hendricks, artist of the upcoming Magnus Robot Fighter written by Louise Simonson and published by ibooks, inc, is online now. New interviews will post weekly.
