On his MySpace blog, Jim Lee reports he has donated his annual piece of art to the Clear View School, a treatment center for autistic and multiply disabled children in New York. Here's a copy of Lee's entry:
For those of you who buy and collect comic art--I just donated my annual (more or less) piece of art seen above to benefit the Clear View School in Briarcliff Manor, NY. The image is pen and ink with pencil and whiteout on 11x17 DC artboard.
Co-founded by the late, great Harvey Kurtzman and his wife, Adele, the school is a day treatment center for autistic and multiply disabled children. They can use every dollar we can offer so please check it out.
The list of contributors is amazing and include:
R. Crumb
Jack Davis
Terry Gilliam
Bill Griffith (contributing a Zippy piece)
Beto Hernandez
Jay Lynch
Frank Miller
Gilbert Shelton (contributing a Fat Freddy piece from 1981)
Art Spiegelman
Mort Walker
The Clear View School is at 555 Albany Post Road Briarcliff Manor, New York 10510. The school business office phone number is (914) 941-8988. The event starts at 6 p.m., with a $45 charge for general admission. More information and reservations are available at (914) 941-4653 (the Development Office).
It's all for a great cause.
