Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy has replaced David Goyer at the helm of Warner Bros.’ The Flash. Levy will probably also serve as producer.

Before his recent box-office hit, Night at the Museum, Levy directed Cheaper by the Dozen and The Pink Panther. While these three movies are all comedies, Levy reportedly has no intention whatsoever to turn the scarlet speedster’s feature film into a running gag — pardon the pun. Yet, the director is said to be aiming for a lighter tone than the one set in previous DC Comics adaptations Batman Begins and Superman Return.

Although Goyer’s movie would have been darker as well, Levy will presumably see to it that parts of the outgoing director’s script will be used when a new version is developed.
