Caption Box brought a surprise to San Francisco’s Alternative Press Expo (APE) this weekend by providing advance copies of its new LONE AND LEVEL SANDS graphic novel ahead of its official public release in comic stores nationwide at month’s end.
Co-creator & artist mpMann sold early copies to the eager West Coast crowd, with writer A. David Lewis expected to make additional prerelease copies available in Columbus, OH at the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo (SPACE) next weekend.
Myth, history, and civilizations clash as the story of Moses and Ramses is stripped of mysticism and told as the tale of a royal family at a legendary crossroads. Caption Box’s 160-page, digest-sized graphic novel also features a foreword by Ben Towle, Eisner-nominee for FAREWELL, GEORGIA, and has been praised by VARIETY Special Editions Editor Tom McLean as a work inwhich “those who are intimately familiar with the Bible and those who aren’t will both find something to like.”
THE LONE AND LEVEL SANDS is still available for reorder through both Diamond Comic Distributors under item code FEB052673 as well as Cold Cut Comics Distribution. The book is priced at $9.95 USD and listed under ISBN 0-9765811-0-8.
