IDW Publishing's Transformers line of comics has offered stories both Earth-bound (Infiltration) and Cybertron-based (Stormbringer). This new universe has also expanded through the stand-alone stories seen in the critically acclaimed TRANSFORMERS: SPOTLIGHT series. This five-part series of one-shots kicked off to a thunderous start with a focus on SHOCKWAVE, followed by M.D. Bright's artistic interpretation of NIGHTBEAT, Nick Roche's take on HOT ROD, and in December the momentum continues when mainstay writer Simon Furman and artist Rob Ruffolo team up to create TRANSFORMERS SPOTLIGHT: SIXSHOT.
An often-feared purveyor of unmatched destruction, SIXSHOT finds himself isolated and wishing for battle, but he doesn't have to wait long. Events soon lead him to the distant, war-torn planet of Mumu-Obscura in search of his former partners in destruction, the TERRORCONS. But only after dealing with The REAPERS will SIXSHOT learn the fate of his fellow DECEPTICONS, and in doing so uncover secrets to his own destructive tendencies. Simon Furman, writer of all of IDW's TRANSFORMERS universe of comics thus far, continues his run here. Artist Rob Ruffolo, who has previously colored some of IDW's comics, will provide full pencils, inks, and colors on this issue.
"I went out of my way to defy as many expectations as possible in this series, and that included tackling a character I'd never written before SIXSHOT says fan-favorite TRANSFORMERS scribe Simon Furman. "Mind you, the possibilities apparent in this multi-transforming living weapon now make me wonder how I'd managed not to do a SIXSHOT story in the many, many hundreds of pages of TRANSFORMERS comics that I've done."
THE TRANSFORMERS: SPOTLIGHT SIXSHOT, the fourth issue of five all-new TRANSFORMERS one-shots, hits shelves in December 2006 with a 32-page full-color comic book with a suggested cover price of $3.99.
