Up and coming writer, Brendan Deneen, teams up with Szymon Kudranski (IDW’s 30 Days of Night) to bring a four issue ‘dark-hero’ mini series entitled Scatterbrain to comic stores in March 2006 via UK based publisher, Markosia.

Originally planned for a summer of 2005 launch, Scatterbrain is now to be released with a brand new artist on board and shipping with four variant covers and can be found in March shipping Previews magazine on sale in December.

Deneen, Director of Production and Development for the Weinstein Co & Dimension Films as well as the author of a New York Times-reviewed stage play, has been working with Richard Emms on the series for over a year.

With Kudranski’s ‘Sienkiewicz’ art-style now complementing Deneen’s dark dialogue, the series has already been tipped as one of 2006’s surprise indie hits. Top industry writers such as Robert Kirkman and Mike Oeming have already had a taster of Deneen’s script, and have kindly given cover quotes for each issue, with more quotes on the way from some of the industry’s top writers.

The story has been best described as a “what if Commissioner Gordon hunted down Batman” and has all the twists and turns of Miller’s Sin City and the moral ambiguity of a Tarantino movie --- with villains galore.

The main character, good cop/bad cop, Jack Anderfold, is obsessed with bringing down the mysterious Scatterbrain and finding out who he truly is. Add to that Jack’s drug and alcohol addiction, a broken family life and you have one mean, screwed-up guy.

The storyline is set to continue after the four issue introduction and milieu that Scatterbrain lives and already Deneen is already talking about an ongoing or several mini-series, working along side Emms.

Deneen describes it as “superhero noir with twists and turns coming at a furious pace.”

Scatterbrain #1 is guaranteed to ship the first week of March via Diamond Comics and is priced at $3.50.
