Marvel Comics is honored to announce that fan-favorite penciller Mike McKone has accepted a two year exclusive contract!
“I’m moving back to the House of Ideas and it feels great!” says McKone, excited by the prospects of the move. “Thanks to Mike Marts, Joe Q, and Dan Buckley, the opportunity to contribute a little more to the Marvel Universe came along and I’m grabbing it with both hands!”
McKone’s past year’s work on DC’s Teen Titans has garnered him many accolades with fans and creators alike, but he’s no stranger to the Marvel heroes, though, having contributed to EXILES, THOR, SPIDERMAN 2099, PUNISHER, and HULK.
“Mike’s art has truly made us sit up and take notice,” comments Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada. “He’s got a fantastic flair for action and we couldn’t be more thrilled that he agreed to come back to the Marvel Bullpen.” Publisher Dan Buckley concurs. “I can’t believe we’re this lucky, to have Mike join us again and to have him drawing our characters. I’ll be looking forward to seeing all of his new Marvel work.”
The artist’s “fantastic flair” for costumed superheroics will serve him more than well for his first new Marvel assignment. “I’m going to draw my favorite comic book in the whole wide world,” beamed McKone. “I’m going to be drawing the Fantastic Four!”
