Yet another Frank Miller comic project is making its way to the silver screen, as word has come  that Warner Bros. will develop a feature film based on Miller’s early 1980s DC mini-series, Ronin.

The six-issue story was Miller’s top work for DC prior to the 1986 epic The Dark Knight Returns. Whereas Dark Knight spawned a new view, decidedly darker view on superhero comics, Ronin was influential when it came to creator rights issues. Inspired by the hit manga Lone Wolf and Cub, Miller told a story of a ronin who is reincarnated in a dystopian New York overrun by squatters and mutants, and who must fight an old demon named Agat to avoid even more chaos.

Work on a script has yet to begin, though negotiations with Sylvain White, director of “Stomp the Yard”, are ongoing to helm the project. 300 producer Gianni Nunnari and his Hollywood Gang company are close to stepping onboard as well…

With 300 a massive hit both domestically and internationally, and with Ronin having been added to a production schedule that includes two Sin City films and an adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, all signs point to Frank Miller being a rising star in Hollywood.
