"The little indie that could,”* David Petersen’s and ASP’s MOUSE GUARD has racked up numerous best-of awards for 2006, including those from Wizard, Canada’s widely read Metro News, IGN.com, and Broken Frontier. David and ASP wish to thank both the supportive and dedicated fans who helped make MOUSE GUARD such a success, and each of the publications that decided to honor MOUSE GUARD with their best-of awards.
Here is a complete list of the specific accolades:
**Wizard: Best Independent Book of the Year (2006)
**Canada’s Metro News: Best Mini-series of 2006, beating out books from such stalwarts as Marvel, DC and Dark Horse. Metro News is the #1 National Daily in Canada's top 4 markets and the largest and fastest growing international newspaper in the world. 69 Metro editions are published in 94 major cities in 21 countries in 19 languages across Europe, North & South America and Asia.
**IGN.com: Best Indie Book of the Year. (Note: ASP’s THE KILLER was a runner-up in this category.)
**Broken Frontier: David won Best Artist—Independent, and MOUSE GUARD nabbed a Paper Screen Gem for Best Debut.
**Michael Browning, managing editor of the Logan Banner, a regional newspaper in West Virginia: Top 10 Comic of 2006. “[It] is the breakout hit of the year. Petersen has created the next Bone and readers are buying this book up as soon as it hits stands.”
**Guy LeCharles Gonzalez, on his blog www.loudpoet.com: One of the Top 10 Comics of 2006. Guy said, “Petersen's artwork is absolutely beautiful and his storytelling skills are precise and efficient, almost poetic...” (*Quote in the first sentence courtesy of Guy.)
David was too speechless to even comment.

MOUSE GUARD is the story of a band of mice trying to survive in a hostile medieval world, to prosper among harsh conditions and vicious predators. The story began innocuously enough with three members of the Mouse Guard on a mission to find a grain peddler who disappeared on his journey from one protected mousehold to another. This seemingly minor event, however, opened the door to an epic mystery of intrigue, deception and danger as Saxon, Kenzie, Lieam and Sadie attempt to thwart a mouse in possession of the Black Axe and his plot to unify the mice under one, all-controlling, and all-powerful leader.
Each issue of MOUSE GUARD releases bi-monthly and is 24-pages, full color, 8”x8” and retails for $3.50. It is recommended for ages 10+. The collected hardcover edition, MOUSE GUARD: FALL 1152, releases in April 2007.
