Top Cow is pleased to announce that the long sold-out The Necromancer limited series is being collected in an all-inclusive trade paperback collection for release in early April.
The Necromancer Trade Paperback collects issues #1-6 of the supernatural suspense series as well as bonus material including character designs, a cover gallery, and more. Abigail van Alstine is a stunning, smart high school student who just happens to be a natural spellcaster and adept in The Way. Abigail is thrust into the world of magic and soon ensnared in a larger conflict between the Church of Mali, an ancient demon, the Dark Agents, and the mysterious Hierarchy. What will Abby's inexperience cost her in this grand game?
Written by critically acclaimed novelist and video game writer Joshua Ortega (Star Wars, Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer), paired with fan-favorite artist Francis Manapul (Witchblade, Iron & The Maiden), the series drew high praise and attention when it was initially released in 2006. The Necromancer Trade Paperback will feature a foreword by co-creator Matt Hawkins and an afterword by superstar scribe Mike Carey (Hellblazer, Lucifer, Uncanny X-Men). This trade totals 144 pages and carries a suggested retail price of $14.99.
“I'm really proud of what we've accomplished with The Necromancer," commented Ortega. “Abby van Alstine is a character that resonates with die-hard comic fans as well as teen readers and manga fans. Francis Manpul's art deserves a ton of credit for this crossover appeal, and the fact that the story not only deals with horror and dark fantasy, but also real-world issues such as teen suicide and family crises, has really helped to add to that appeal.”
“The Necromancer is really one of those series that hits on all cylinders”, said Filip Sablik, Vice President of Marketing & Sales, “Joshua crafted a brilliant, tight script and Francis produced some of the best work of his career. As a fan of the series I'm thrilled to see it collected and can't wait to see what these guys do for us next”.
