What happens when a typical grad-student receives a package of mysterious and ancient artifacts, gets attacked by demons, and travels to a strange dimension—all while receiving sage guidance from a transvestite nun?

Obviously, our protagonist has been chosen to save the universe from an ultimate evil that threatens all existence. Shon C. Bury’s NOX takes readers through a dark netherworld on an epic adventure with Everyman hero Joey King. Mapped onto Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle, the 128-page graphic novel exploits the battle between intellect and imagination, the loyalty of friendship, and the archetypal internal struggle when the call to adventure presents itself.

NOX is a self-aware, low fantasy populated equally by mystical gurus, urban hipsters, Everyman characters, and dark forces bent on tipping our drab, mundane world into shadows,” author Shon C. Bury describes.

NOX was completed in 2006, but publishing delays have kept fans waiting until now. A later release spawned an opportunity for Bury to take his story direct to the Internet in a bold web-to-print promotional campaign. Reading purists will appreciate the durable, glossy paperback version now available at www.shoncburysnox.com and Amazon.com.

Bury’s creation has garnered critical acclaim, winning Comic Geek Speak’s Indy Challenge in March of that year.  Newsarama’s Troy Brownfield claimed NOX was “an energetic book that turns your typical kid on a quest scenario on its head.” Jeff (Fade to Black, Zombie Cop) Mariotte claimed it to be “a great read!” And That’s Entertainment gave the book 10 out of 5 stars. No, that’s not a typo.

Bury is president of Space Goat Productions—the comic industry’s premier talent management and production studio. He is also known for his comic writing, including Superman, Power Pack, Cable and Black Ops.
