What’s next on the horizon for Penny-Farthing Press (PFP)? For the very first time, PFP takes a bite out of the Big Apple! In February 2007, PFP and company will take the city that never sleeps by storm with their inaugural attendance at this year’s upcoming New York Comic Con. PFP is thrilled to be a part of the fastest growing convention on the East Coast. Along with con exclusives, PFP is excited to showcase three of their newest hardback and trade paperback compilations, as well as offering an “advance preview” of its newly forthcoming series of comics and graphic novels, including a historical action-adventure story, created and penned by bestselling mystery and fantasy novelist, BARBARA HAMBLY.
“With New York still largely thought of as the capital of print/news media as well as publishing in general (books and comics), we’re very excited about future prospects for showcasing our wares there. We envision ourselves over the long term as not strictly a comic-book company, but perhaps a potential IP resource intimately connected with the entertainment industry as a whole. Having the opportunity to put in a regular appearance at a major New York venue becomes paramount,” states Creative Director Trainor Houghton.
All Con attendees will be able to stock up on Penny-Farthing Press merchandise at reduced prices. Children’s books and select graphic novels will be sold for ten dollars each and single issue comics will be sold for two dollars each.

Not only will PFP showcase Stuart Moore’s PARA, Captain Gravity and the Power of the Vril and Decoy: Menagerie, Part 2, three of Penny-Farthing’s most popular graphic novels, but limited quantities of Anne Steelyard: The Garden of Emptiness previews, signed by bestselling author Barbara Hambly will be available as well. Barbara Hambly (the Benjamin January mysteries, Patriot Hearts) and break out artist Alex Kosakowski have both signed to work on PFP’s upcoming Anne Steelyard graphic novel series. It is a historical and mystical adventure following the struggles of a female archeologist in pre-World War I Mesopotamia.
PFP will also conduct several author and artist signings during The Con. Stuart Moore, creator and writer of PARA will be signing as well as Stephen Vrattos, creator of Captain Gravity and Bob Almond, inker for Captain Gravity and the Power of the Vril and The Victorian.
PFP is also excited to announce the upcoming release of an animated short based on their children’s book, The Loch, created and written by PFP’s Editor-in-Chief, Marlaine Maddux. PFP is collaborating with creative agency Sandman Studios (clients include DreamWorks SKG, Microsoft, The Walt Disney Company) and renowned animatic and storyboard artist Ryan Woodward (Iron Giant, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3). Look for The Loch animation to appear in early 2007.
Also in 2007, PFP will release the special “prestige format” trade paperback editions of The Victorian Act IV: Self-Overcoming and The Victorian Act V: Self-Exsoulment. These books will be packaged as a special “Limited Edition” boxed set featuring all five trades of The Victorian series. Look for upcoming advertisements in Previews as well as special promotions for fans and retailers!
