*The comic for people who are bored by "action," "plot" and "admirable characters" is now a comic strip. The Eisner-nominated Truth Serum will be produced weekly as a classic three-panel strip, a la Momma or Garfield (but with hopefully more jokes, and in full-color).
After the success of two graphic novels, and with Truth Serum comics appearing irregularly and in various forms for over five years on the Dark Horse website, author Jon Adams decided to hop on the web comics bandwagon, making it a regular endeavor. "If it weren't for the glory, fame and reckless sexual adventures associated with comic strips," says Adams, "I probably wouldn't be making one. But then again, maybe I would. My cousin Casey makes a web comic, and I'm always looking for a way to prove I'm better than that dick. He thinks he's so cool just because he has a car and his own apartment. And because his girlfriend never cheats on him. And because his parents acknowledge his birthday. Anyway, I've gotten off topic. What was the question?"
If you're uncertain whether you'll enjoy Truth Serum, please consider this list of quotes from those who have done the thinking for you:
"Penned and crisply illustrated by Jon Adams — a savant of painfully laconic dialogue and methodically fine ink — Truth Serum is more than just a superhero comic for people who hate superhero comics." - SF Bay Guardian
"...the satirical jabs of Family Guy and the raw honesty of indie masterpieces such as Blankets and Jimmy Corrigan." - Wizard Magazine
"If you left costumed exploits behind after you started reading Chester Brown or Ann Beattie or watching the films of Todd Solondz, here's a viable return to the genre, thick with tasty chunks of emotional nihilism and social awkwardness..." - Austin Chronicle
So instead of going outside or making new friends, you can stare at your computer screen each week to see the new Truth Serum comic, available at Dark Horse's website as well as the official Truth Serum site: http://citycyclops.com.
