Already craving for Spider-Man 4? Looks like you’ll just have to wait a little longer. And hold on to your tights.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Sam Raimi, director of the previous 3 Spidey films, and Sony, don’t see eye to eye on which villain should go toe to toe with your friendly neighborhood webhead. Things have gotten so bad it’s doubtful the film will hit theatres on its projected release date of May 11, 2011.

Apparently, Raimi wants the Vulture, while Sony is clawing for the Black Cat:

“Raimi wants to have a criminal known as the Vulture act as the primary antagonist in the film while the studio, which dislikes the idea of the winged wrongdoer, is pushing for a romantic sub-plot involving a burglar named the Black Cat in addition to another villain.

A succession of writers has tried to marry the two parties' differing visions to no effect.”

Damn....Vulture would be cool for the SFX for sure but on the other hand....a love triangle would be awesome storywise!
